Dr. Aman Shukairy

Dr. Aman Shukairy is a board certified ophthalmologist and glaucoma and anterior segment specialist. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, as well as an active member of the american Glaucoma Society and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. She is also an active member of Women in Ophthalmology as well as a member of the Michigan Society of Eye Physicians.

Dr. Shukairy graduated with honors from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature. She then received her medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine in 2005 and went on to complete a year of transitional medicine at Henry Ford Hospital. She completed her residency in Ophthalmology at the prestigious Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit, Michigan followed by a surgical fellowship in Glaucoma and Anterior Segment Diseases of the eye. Her intensive training allowed her to excel in the vast range of glaucoma procedures, from the traditional filtering surgery, to the newer minimally-invasive glaucoma techniques, while also implementing the latest advancements in cataract surgery and laser eye treatments.

From 2011 to 2018, Dr. Shukairy worked as an attending physician at Kresge Eye Institute, and an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Wayne State University. In addition, she was and attending ophthalmologist at the John D. Dingell Veterans Hospital in Detroit. Her work at Kresge Eye Institute was extremely rewarding, and she spent much time dedicated towards teaching future generation of eye surgeons, and focusing on research in ophthalmology with a specific interest in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma, as well as health literacy and disparities in medicine.

In 2018, Dr. Shukairy decided to move back to her hometown of Flint, Michigan to be closer to family, and to focus on her community in this area. Premier Glaucoma and Eye Center was thus founded, with the goal of preserving vision and focusing on providing the highest quality of care for our patients.

In her spare time, Dr. Shukairy enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling with her husband and 2 children and giving back to her community.
